Some small pictures taken while cleaning and replacing spray nozzles on BAC water towers.
Whatever gets past the sump pump screens ends up at the spray nozzles, and clogs them. You will find most of the debris at the end of the manifold. You can almost guarantee that the last two nozzles at the end will be clogged.
These pictures are of a tower bypass valve. The valve has not been opened for years. You can see the plugged valve and pipe in these photos.

Here we have the case off, giving it a yearly maintenance. Changing igniter and flame sensor. Also reaming all the carbon build up inside the tubes.
These Baltimore Aircoil water towers use a Dolphin Water Treatment System. Seems the company complains about using up too much water. My issue with the Dolphin system, is it cakes itself to the tower heaters. It turns into a concrete and bonds itself to the heaters. I've seen it about 1/4 in thick and heaters have to be cleaned before winter begins.
